I have recently had a 10mnth female ferret collapse and die, its litter mates are all normal and there were no sx of clinical disease the night before but was found in a collapsed state first thing the next morning.

PME revealed focal hepatic necrosis of poss infectious ax with renal mineralisation, chronic interstitial nephritis which were marked for a young animal. Uterine tissue showed evidence of cystic endometria hyperplasia and very unusual (?neoplastic) cells.

The ferret was fully vaccinated and healthy otherwise
