Hi,
I am a bit embarassed but I really need help. I live in Brooklyn, NY and this summer we are experiencing a bad cockroach problem in our apartment. We keep all areas clean and dry and have done everything humanly possible, but we still have the unwanted "guests". I can only imagine how bad it is for my ferret to be in this environment, with the dust from cockroaches and their dirty habits.
One main problem is that our neighbors use an exterminator. I think this causes the bugs to seek refuge in our apartment. We have never allowed an exterminator into our house, because that would be toxic for our Cola, ferret. We have also never used any insecticides, as again, obviously very bad for her.
My boyfriend really wants us to move Cola to my sisters for a week and fumigate. I refuse.
here is a list of my problems:
1. Cola can't move out to a friends house, she has insulinoma and needs daily management with med.s and feedings.
2. Have done everything possible in terms of keeping apartment clean, is not enough
3. Roaches causing allergies for us and ferret
Please help -- does anyone know of a natural remedy that is not harmful to my baby? We tried the sticky/non poisononous traps. Not working.
Cola and I could go and live with my sister for a week or two while my boyfriend uses a poison, but I know it will stay in the environment.
What can I do? Any advice?
