Well, we won't be vaccinating Pan for distemper any longer,
and we're thinking long and hard about rabies--he ended up
needing to stay the night in critical care and came home with
a stress ulcer. He is a very highstrung ferret and
unfortunately his reaction feels like it was somewhat
inevitable.

Here's another question: does anybody know of any studies or
personal anecdotes about titer levels for distemper
antibodies (if I'm phrasing that correctly) following a
reaction? My vet was not aware of any studies and thought
that Pan was probably still protected for this year, but we'd
welcome any information people might have on the subject.

Pan is being such a little trooper about his ulcer
medications. He actively likes amoxycillan and willingly
licks up the ones that don't taste too objectionable. I
think he has made the connection that the carafete makes his
tummy feel better. His appetite is good as well, so I think
he's well on the path to recovering from this incident. It's
a scary thing to go through.
