When Spaz sheds, it's like a hair bomb. The hair is also easily pulled out and just running my hand down his back fills the palm of my hand with hair. This is a normal shed. He sheds like this at least once a year, but the timing varies. I've seen him blow his winter coat anywhere from December to May.

I'd say what you are seeing is a normal shed. Odd time of year, but ferrets shed based on the length of the days and we subject them to so much artificial lighting that their timing is often screwed up.
