Proscar by itself is probably not going to help with his problem. Proscar is used in male ferrets to help with prostate swelling and it usually used in conjunction with Lupron which stops the signal that's causing the adrenal to pump out the hormones. Proscar by itself does not relieve adrenal symptoms that I'm aware of.

An adrenal gland can look OK externally, but still be "defective." Spaz had one of these. When my vet went in, both adrenals looked normal but he took out the left and dissected it on the spot before closing. Internally, the structure was... well, it's been a few years and I don't remember his terminology, but not good and whatever it was, taking out the left solved his problem and within three weeks he was regrowing his coat.

I'm not a vet, but there's a good chance it's the right even though it looks OK.

He says either there is still tissue from the left that's too small to find or the Right is going but not visibly bad yet. He does not want to remove the Right unless he's sure it is the cause, which I agree with. However, this now leaves us wondering what to do next. He has suggested trying Proscar.
