Just a few months ago, this past winter I also had a 5 year old male ferret that
was bleeding from the mouth. He was taken to a very ferret knowledgable vet
and was found to have pnemonia. He was also anemic, and had the black tarry
stools. He had been sick for a few days before the mouth bleeding. Our vet put
him on Baytril, and vitamins. Ibelieve he was also on something else, but I don't
remember what it was at this time. He recovered very well and has not had any
problem since. When he was diagnosed with pnemonia, his only other
symptom was a runny nose. It was also crusty. But there was no coughing.
Hope this helps. Fuzzy kisses! Thievesden7 @ yahoo.com

her to a very good ferret vet, who tested her blood and found her to be
extremely anemic. He put her on carafate and epogen every other day for a
week. She also has small black tarry stools.
