Take a couple 3 liters and fill with water. Freeze, and place one in a
towel in the cage. Switch every 6 hours or so. In the mean time, spritz
your ferret with water, or let him swim in the tub. Make sure he has plenty
of fresh, cool water for drinking. Let him sleep during the hottest part of
the day. You may wish to invest in an small air conditioner, or a fan that
uses water for the ferret room. However, you also need to rule out
underlying conditions. If your ferret continues to act funny after cooling
techniques have been implemented, or he gets worse, you need to visit a vet.

Reptiles and ferrets...we need your help!

Hello there! I am not too familiar with how this website works, as aI am a
new member, but I need some help. Our ferret, Sammy, is acting a bit out of
the ordinary. I think he is overheated and I do not know what to do to help
him. We have plenty of fans and windows open around him but this does not
seem to be working. His heart rate seems to be faster and he his panting a
lot. When we take him out of the cage he will just lay in out arms for a
bit before he gets the energy to be his 'wild' self. I am a bit worried.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be extremely greatful.

Thank you- Sincerely
TJL
