Hi Karen, I use
Woody pet wood pellet litter. We had a problem when two of our ferrets
went in for exploratory surgery. It seems that they both ingested the
regular ( tidy cat ) litter we were using at the time. It got as far as
the stomach and scratched the lining therefore inviting a helicobactor
problem. It took us 6 months of meds and forced feedings to finally get
one of our ferrets almost back to normal. The other ferret (Baby) was
never the same and passed on about 6 months later. His death was not
just the fault of the litter, it was also due to our ignorance and
inexperience in taking care of a sick ferret. We also at times put too
much trust in vets that were not as ferret knowledgable as we thought
they were. Unfortunately our ferrets paid the price for our ignorance.
Sorry to ramble on. Hope this helps. Mary.
