You're vet is probably right. No way 65 is normal. Even 80 is suspect, but there can often be variations. Multiple checks should be made.

I don't know about the "add 20" thing. I never heard of that one. When I used a home glucometer with one of mine, the readings were pretty accurate as displayed and were close enough to results obtained at my vet to be considered the same.
