Hi everyone,

Bandit went to the vet the other day-for BG reading it was "26" in the
office--I just don't understand...we recently started him on the proglycem (.02)
twice a day and (.80) of the pred twice a day. At first it seemed the proglycem
was working because he was walking around more--although sometimes it looks
like he walks around aimlessly...I don't know if its confusion because of the
low BG level or because his cataracts are so bad. He sometimes does not go to
the bathroom on the paper as usual---and will poop close to where he's
sleeping. The meds are hard to give--me cause as we give them "he started peeing on
us"--I guess he's scared..
I put him in the tub the other day--cause he really needed a bath--he just
froze--when I took him out he laid in the towel like a baby-didn't move..He's
still eating fine--that hasn't been an issue--we did manage to get his weight
down- from 4.8 ounces to 4.4ounces. I asked my vet how could it be possible
that his sugar is so low and yet he's not having seizures (that I 'm aware
of)--and he's had them before so I know what to look for--and how is it that he even
has the energy to move around?? I didn't really get a direct answer....but
can someone please comment on this??

The last complete CBC was in February everything was pretty normal--there
were a couple of results that were on the high side:

Calcium- 9.9
Total Protein- 7.1
Globulin- 3.6
Glucose- 35 (low)
HGB- 19.1
HCT- 59.3
Neutrophil Seg- 85
Lymphocytes- 9 (low)
Monocytes- 4- (low)

Can any of the vets make out anything else going on with Bandit based on his
blood values above.

*I always worry about Kidney Failure
Bandits urine looks like water its never
concentrated like my younger guy "Feifal"
Bun was19 and Creatinine .08---which were within normal values..

Oh, one last question- my husband and I will be going away in August for a
few days and the woman who works at our vets office volunteered to pet sit
Bandit while we we're away. She runs a ferret shelter or takes in "ADV" ferrets
and cares for them and runs strictly on donations. Is it a good idea for Bandit
to stay with her?? or could he catch this from the other ferrets--how is it
contracted??

I'm sorry this is such a mouthfull- I would appreciate any and all feedback..

Thank you,

Christina
