I've read that previous thinking was that ear mites didn't live well off the pet, but that thinking has changed. It would be a good idea to take care to provide clean bedding at all times. It surely couldn't hurt.

Are you cleaning her ears with q-tips? If so, you might want to ask your vet about using something like Oti-Clens. This is a liquid you fill the ear canal with, massage the ear canal to loosen up the debris then let the ferret shake it out. She'll hate this too, and it's a bit messy, but it's probably less painful than a q-tip and may do a better job of cleaning. Be sure to warm it first and of course, be sure to ask your vet if this is OK to use in this case. I'm not crazy about q-tips, even if they don't have ear mites. I believe there's a chance you'll just push the junk further into their tiny ear canal rather than getting it out.

Also, will the Tresederm ease some of the pain associated with the ear mites soon? One of my little girls is just having fits with her left ear. I can barely get in to clean it without her crying. Breaks my heart, but it has to be done. :(
