Hair loss like that is absolutely NOT normal for a ferret of any age. Yes, your ferret most likely has adrenal disease and surgery is the best course of action. However, I would be looking for another vet with more knowledge and would not go back to the one that told you this was normal for a ferret his age. Even someone that doesn't know that much about ferrets would know that total hair loss is not normal.

At first I was told by a vet that it is normal for a ferret of this age. If this is so please let me know. If not what should I do? The vets in my area do not have a lot of knowledge about ferrets.
