Our Ein is approximately four (he was a rescue, so his age is guesswork) an=
d got ECE in March, along with one of our females, Jet. She recovered very=
quickly, but Ein kept having bouts of diarrhea and wasn't regaining the we=
ight that he lost. Absolutely no signs of ulcers, mouth or otherwise, thank=
fully, and he was eating and drinking, but the diarrhea wouldn't disappear.=
Our vet put him on flagyl, which seemed to make him do a total turn-aroun=
d- his appetite was back, his poops were normal, and he was energized again=
. One week after stopping the flagyl, which he had been on for two weeks t=
otal, the diarrhea was back. So our vet gave us another bottle of the flag=
yl, and now it is week three but every few days, poor Ein has a nasty poop =
episode, from runny to green. His appetite is fine, which is good because =
despite all of my best efforts thus far, I cannot get him to eat anything v=
oluntarily except kibble- it stresses him out so much that for now I've giv=
en up my search for something bland that he'll eat. But he is now at about=
his normal weight, eating regularly, even on the days when he has bad poop=
s. I am going to call the vet tomorrow and talk to him about another kind =
of treatment, but I thought I'd ask here for suggestions. We talked about =
helicobacter, but since Ein shows no signs of ulcers or other symptoms, the=
vet didn't think that was it. It's just diarrhea, symptom-wise, but I kno=
w it must be taking its toll on him and I want to figure out how to get rid=
of it! =

Thanks....
Susan
