Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for information on this and I hope I can learn from too.

Rocky is a 2.5 year old MF male who had diarrhea, with weight loss and teeth grinding.

All the test, blood work and stool, came back normal from the lab.
Exploratory surgery was performed and I've copied the lab report below.

He is currently on predisone.

Any helpful info I can pass on will be so appreciate. The attending vet knows I'm asking here and kindly accepts the info I take him. :)

Sharon B.

Histopathology:
Formalin-fixed tissues were examined histologically. The lymph node exhibits mild follicular and paracortical hyperplasis. Medullary cords contain moderate numbers of eosinophils. Small granulomas, consisting of multinucleated gaint cells surrounding clubs of eosinophilic material (Splendore-Hoeppli reaction), are present within the medullary sinuses. The stomach contains moderate numbers of eosinophils within the deep lamina propria and diffusely throughout the submucosa. The spleen is congested and exhibits moderate extramedullary hematopoiesis.

Diagnosis:
1. Moderate eosinophilic granulomatous lymphadenitis with Splendore-Hoeppli material
2. Moderate eosinophilic gastritis
3. Splenic extramedullary hematopoiesis

Comments;
The Spendore-Heoppli reaction is an antigen-antibody reation, which is typically to infectous agents or parasites. In this case, special stains were negative for bacteria, mycobacteria, and fungi, Eosinophilic gastronenterities with Splendore-Hoeppli material, which appears unrelated to infectious agents, has been described in ferrets.
