can you get a copy of the biopsy results and post the actual report here?
There are other vets here as well, and maybe someone could interpret it
for
you.

Chordoma's rarely become malignant and spread. However, they can grow
locally
and locally can invade the local area. ALthough they can be found to grow
anywhere
along the spinal cord, fortunately most of the time they are on the tail.
If they become
painful they should be removed, or just removed to be on the safe side so
they
don't spread. However, if they originate in the spinal cord anywhere but
the tail
removal won't be an option because of location and the prognosis is much
different.

Mast cell tumors are skin tumors- made of mast cells that do contain
histamine- when
release are very itchy. They can pop up anywhere on the body, and
generally are also
not malignant- however, there is always that remote potential, so removal
is recommended
to be on the safe side. They do not have the same bad prognosis as those
seen in dogs,
where they are almost always malignant.

Now I am not a vet, and this is only my understanding based on what I
have read.
If you go to Dr. Williams website and read about both you will see that
they are
not related, one will not spread into the other and what is the cause of
them, the
prognosis,etc.
http://www.afip.org/ferrets/
I think you will feel a little better after reading there, but the reason
I say you should
obtain a copy of the report to post it here is because you may have
misunderstood
it and it may be something completely different than was presented here.

Good luck,

Patty
