I came home last Thursday night to find Jigs, my five yr. old male in a coma
and having seizures. We gave him honey and 1/2 c.c. of pedia pred and rushed
him to the local vet who called our regular vet who is 2 hrs.away.checked his
glucose which was 67. took a few hrs. for him to finally come out of it. He has
been on 2/10 of a c.c. of pedia pred every 12 hrs.but has absolutely no get up
and go.His appetite IS good and he is eating quite a bit of the chicken duck
soup every 3 to 4 hrs. We took him to our regular vet this morning and his
glucose was 135 but he had eaten recipe within the hr. On a closer
examinationXXX found that his heart is "arythmic"? My husband and I both
listened to it and it is normal, then speeds way up,then back to normal, and on
and on. XXX said that he feels we need to have an ultrasound done on him and
that he is a very depressed ferret. He also wants us to take him to the local vet
and have his glucose checked again after he hasn't eaten for awhile. Does
anyone know of any herbal treatment for this, how much an ultrasound usually
runs, quality of life, etc. etc. etc.????? Jigs seems as if he's just "not here". He
acts as if, other than eating, he wants simply to be left alone. His temp was
100.7 but he acts as if he might be warm, choosing to sleep close to an air
conditioner vent on the bathroom tile floor which is very cold, however he
wraps himself in a fleece baby blanket. Please help.
