Hi Linda, it looks like adrenal disease to me, it doesn't necesarly start with hair
loss on the tail, one of my ferrets had it and the only sympton that he had was
aggressive (sexual) behavior. There are tests that could be done to know for
sure like the adrenal panel which tests specifically for the hormones produced
by a tumour. I'm not a vet but i think that the adrenal panel is the best way for
you to proceed.Hope he gets better!
