Hi.
I am writing this for a friend of mine that hasn't got her own pc at home.
Her male ferret have for the last 3 weeks or so shown signs of excessive
itchy skin, and has developed what looks like dry eczema with flaky skin =
and red dots on a small area on one of his thighs. She said it looks like
ha has lost some of his fur there as well. He has also lost a little bit of=
fur =
on his tail as well, and the red dots are present on his tail as well. He i=
s =
also limping a little on that leg with the balding spot on it. She said tha=
t =
he has lost a little weight lately. Other than that, he is acting very happ=
y, =
normal and healthy. He eats well, drinks well and has normal poops. The =
female ferret they own is acting normal and has no signs of anything =
troubling her.
We have had an extreme heat-wave here for the last month and a half or =
so, and the owners of this ferret have recently had a baby (she was born =
in may) and haven't had as much time for playtime and cuddles after that =
as the ferrets have been used to getting. Just thought I would mention this=
=
in case it could be relative to what's happening to the ferret.
She's going to the vet with him now right over the weekend, but the problem=
is that where she lives in Norway they haven't got any ferret knowledgeable=
=
vets. We don't have many of these kind of vets here in Norway, and she has =
=
no chance to travel halfway across the country now to see one, even if she'=
d =
like to do it. Can anyone at this list give some ideas on what the vet migh=
t =
try look for, so she can help her ferret boy get rid of the itchy skin and =
eczema?
Thanks in advance,
Mariann
