Hi Nancy,
I also have one with insulinoma, actually two with it. One eats fine but the other does not. Do you make your own version of Duck Soup or buy the ready made one. I found mine will eat only my homemade version, he does not like the store bought one you mix with water at all.
When he doesn't want drink plain water I give him the clear pedilite, and he loves it. After he's had some pedilite then he will start drinking water again. Try soaking some of her dry food in some water, add some clear pedilite, some can presc. A/D for cats(your Vet. should carry it), or first stage baby food (chicken flavor) and a touch of NutriCal. Puree it in the blender and try giving her that. Sometimes it takes a couple trys before they deciede they like it. It took mine a few trys before he decieded he'd eat it. Good Luck, Jeanne ANCY TAYLOR <ferretnt@comcast.net> wrote:
As I was reading the post today, I noticed that there was some
experience with insulinoma and diabetes. My seven year old,
Juneau, has insulinoma. I believe that she may also have diabetes.
She is on .6 cc Prednisone daily. However, she has started
drinking large amounts of water. I have been giving her Marshall
Farm's Duck soup mixed with water. She won't drink plain water
and won't eat her normal ferret food (8&1 and Totally Ferret).
Any ideas on how to keep her blood sugar closer to normal on a
daily basis?

Thanks,
Nancy and the Ferretkids
