There are many possible causes of anemia or of severe sudden brusing in ferrets.

We had Jumpstart who was obviously not really right but no test could find the cause. Then one morning we woke and he was bruised all over his trunk. He'd been in an area where there was nothing to fall from. At that point we thought that a serious contender for the cause was adrenal disease, but in his case it instead turned out that he had lymphoma which has been simmering in his thorax and not even the ultrasounds had found it. Then it took off in a rush and that caused sudden massive bruising and terrible problems breathing. We had to say goodbye to him that day.

As you can see, it is not possible to say what happened to your little one, but there are causes of such things which are among the possibilities.
