I have found the combination of lupron (monthly) and
Melatonin (1 mg liquid daily- I give in the evening)
to be very effective in older ferrets that have had
adrenal surgery in the past, and then have recurrence
of their adrenal symptoms. It seems to work even
better than in younger, presurgical candidates. In
fact, honestly I have been able to space the Lupron
shots out to every 3 to 4 months. Don't forget, it
takes about 3 months for the Melatonin to work...be
patient, it will help both itching and hair loss in my
experience. I have used this combo with 4 older
ferrets successfully.
