Subject: some more experience with Devil's Club for insulinoma
Message-ID: <20030806045654.99061.qmail@web14901.mail.yahoo.com>

Whenever I recommend Devil's Club for insulinoma I am
always asked for hard data...unfortunately I am not a
research scientist, and no one has tested this
clinically...no money to be made.

However, I noticed my 4 year old Mary developing the
signs of insulinoma, though she never "crashed". I
took her to my vet and she had a fasting blood sugar
of 50. So I scheduled her for surgery (hopefully next
week) but in the meantime I started her on 5 drops of
Devil's Club q 12 hours followed by a high protein
meal (chicken gravy or baby food). The first couple
doses I pretreated her with about 1/4 teaspoon of
icing sugar along her gum lines about 20 minutes prior
to the Devil's Club in order to bring her blood sugar
levels up. I noticed an almost immediate improvement
in her attitude- more playing, active, not shaking.
After 3 weeks on this regime I retested her fasting
levels and they were now 110.

I realize 2 levels aren't a huge number to compare,
but it does give some support to what Diane Bodofsky
have seen clinically treating these animals.

I am still going to have Mary operated on because she
is young, and I find it difficult to keep up with the
twice day regimen that is necessary. But I hope people
will seriously consider using Devil's Club 1] if the
ferret is too old or for some other reason cannot have
surgery 2] until you are able to get the surgery done
3]for those who cannot afford the surgery.

For more information on Devil's Club see Diane's
website at www.newrainbowbridge.com . She and Steve
also sell the Devil's Club at cost.
