Tansy, if you were providing sugar that alone would bring up her blood levels.

Back before enough was known about insulinoma to treat it in ferrets with surgery and meds giving sugar was what we told to do. It was the only approach known for ferrets back maybe 15 to 20 years ago, and it does do exactly that - bring up the blood glucose levels.

That's why giving sugar is such a good thing to add to a routine sometimes when insulinoma gets so advanced that the more useful approaches aren't working any longer. In that situation the addition can sometimes give a decent stretch of extra quality time.

I may have mis-read what you meant in your post, though. I really am not sure.
