Before I even contemplated surgery, I would get the platelet count. Unless that
comes back at a safe level, surgery isn't even an option.
Aside from becoming a baseline, I don't feel bloodwork from a year ago has
any bearing today's bloodwork.
When I look at the subtle things you mention: bruising, weight loss, muscle
loss, shorter or thinner hair across the shoulders, hairloss on tail, lethargic,
lovey, increased grooming and nesting traits. All of these point to adrenal to
me, based on what I have seen.
I have seen an increase of daylight trigger adrenal signs. I have seen Melatonin
help shrink swollen vulvas, initiate hair regrowth, and eliminate adrenal related
odor.
I have seen a ferret, whose only adrenal sign being the development of
aggression, have a large adrenal tumor. (grape size)
I have seen one ferret's right gland go from basically normal to 'large pea' size
with liver involvement in just under 2 months.
It is a guessing game how long anyone can wait with an adrenal tumor. If you
are concerned about adrenal signs, I don't believe the melatonin would cause
any harm if you used it with her. Check with your vet.
Get the platelet bloodwork done; that will help direct you with your next steps.
Personally, I would not have the Tennessee Panel repeated.
Best wishes,
Julie
