Having no V-hob available this year I had to use hormone injections to bring
the jills out of heat. I found that there was a better response to the
injection if the jill was allowed to interact with an intact hob prior to
the injection. I let the jill spend 15 minutes with the hob which will grip
her by the neck and drag her around. I make sure they don't mate, and
afterwards I inject the jill. The extra stimuli of meeting the hob, his
smell and being gripped and dragged seems to trigger a better response in
the jill. All jills that met with the hob first, went into a false pg which
also lasted longer (whereas some of the jills that were injected without
meeting the hob did not respond at all to the injection). I use Pregnyl
(hCG), 75-100 IU/jill. It's also important to not inject the jill until
she's in full estrus, or it will not work.
