When a ferret is giving up or suffering badly the ferret will refuse to eat or will cry, or otherwise show it.

How old is the ferret? Has the ferret been to a vet? What tests did the vet do?

The reason I ask is because there are many problems out there which are terrible if they aren't treated but if the cause is found and treated then the ferret's life will turn around completely for the better.

Meanwhile, be sure to get enough fluids in the ferret since dehydration can also cause loss of appetite, and serve foods that are especially interesting: like warmed pureed meats given from your finger while you patiently talk or sing to the ferret. There is a great deal about feeding sick ones in the archives at http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org, and at http://www.afip.org/ferrets/index.html, and I am sure list members will send you suggestions.
