Hi all,
I'm not sure if the message I typed yesterday of the same title was posted, the browser told me there was an error, so I'll try to retype it.
Because of the power outage, all the vet could do on Thursday was give Pippin and Felix a good physical exam. Pippin had started vomiting and had become very lethargic in the few hours after I had typed the first message and brought him in to the vet. She prescribed Pepto for both (0.8mL twice daily) until the diarrea clears and for Pippin, who was worse off, amoxicillian (0.17mL twice daily) and metronidazole (o.14mL twice daily) until both sets of meds are finished. I don't know any concentrations b/c she couldn't use the computer to print the label, so she just wrote out instructions for the meds.
The metron is suspended in a "strawberry" solution, which Pippin hates, he reacts very violently to it, foaming at the mouth, shaking, writhing and pawing at his neck, mouth and roof of his mouth. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to try to get more of the very small amount of meds into him, with his antics he seems to ingest very little of the meds.
Also although their poops have gotten firmer they're still not 100% firm, and are persisting to smell very badly. I've kept them on the Pepto hoping that this would clear up but after almost 5 days of it, they're poops are still bouncing between normal and not. Also the poops have turned quite yellow. They are both still showing signs of lethargy, although they are eating and drinking normally.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Terri, Pippin, Felix and John
