Ella is a rescue I got on mar. 31, 2003. Her age unknown but her teeth look like ones of an older ferret and her toe nails are thick just like my old ones have.
She came to me almost totally bald except for very thin fur on both front legs, a tiny spot on her back with a few hairs & a bald spot on top of her head the size of a nickle. The rest of her sweet face has fur. A little naked ferret.
Her Vet. visit with all bloodwork, tests and xrays didn't show anything so far. A few yrs. ago I got two like that, and within 6 mos. their fur all grew back. But 1 !/2 yrs later they both had Adrenal surgery on both sides, one was 6yrs & the other 7yrs. And they lived to be 8 & 9 yrs.old.
She's very active, great appitite & drinks well & no poop problems, just a lover.
But last night while ear cleaning I noticed in her bald spot on the top of her head, she had what looked like tiny fleas attached to her skin. When I tried to remove them, it felt like tiny scabs and didn't want to come off when I washed her head. She never had this before.
She has her own cage, as all mine are old & refuse cage mates. So I ruled out bites from others. I've never had such a thing with any other ferrets before.
It doesn't seem to bother her at all but looks gross. She will be going to the Vet. to have it checked.
But has anyone heard of something like this or their ferrets had this? This is a new one on me. I've never ran into this before. Any suggestions or input is welcome.
Thank you, Jeanne

Have a wonderful day!!
