Mike has a good point here; he may very well be right. (I'm not a vet
either, BTW.) The thing to do is to ask your vet specifically - was
he talking about the normal risk, or did he mean Baka is at greater
risk than normal?

Yes, it's a tough decision. You might lose him if you do nothing.
You might lose him on the operating table. You might have a
successful surgery and find there's nothing you can do anyway. But
there's a chance you can have the surgery and find out there IS
something you can do.
