I recently returned from a week long business trip. During that time my fiance watched my two ferrets. In the middle of the week upon speaking to my fiance he explained to me that he noticed Bailey, my 9 month old male ferret wasnt behaving normally. He said that he seemed very tired and not intersted in playing at all. At this point I figured that he just missed me.
When I returned I immediatley checked on him and I noticed that his paw pads and gums were very pale in color. I compared them to my other Ferret Mikey and it just did not seem right. I also noticed that his "poop" was very abnormal, appearing like seaweed and a seed like substance. I immediately brought him to the nearest vet the next day with a stool sample. The vet ran his stool and said that it came back negative. His prescribed antibiotics (Metronidaz 50mg/ml Xcc, #: 5) He said that Bailey might have just been sad that his mommy was gone. He also have him a dewormer.
My fiance said that Bailey was eating while I was away but when I arrived he barely ate at all. I have been feeding him KMR as it seems to be the only thing he will take along with ferretvite and laxatone. He will not eat his food even when I try to moisten it. He also drinks water. All he does is sleep. Also, im not sure if its me or not but his hearts seems to be beating rapidly even while he is just asleep. His "poop" changed from the green seedy diahrrea to now brown seedy diahrrea. I am going to take him back to another vet to see if he suggests anything else.
Do you have any ideas on what this might be? Some sort of blockage maybe?
Also, my other ferret Mikey is fine being rambuctious as always and eating well.
