Early on some glands are small, also in some cases diseased glands can be small.
Important consideration: If both adrenal glands come out or it one is atrophied or non-productive an Addisons Crisis can occur. These can be fatal.
If this applies is the vet testing electrolyte ratios? (If both glands were removed is the ferret getting meds such as Pred and Florinef or Percorten? )
