Subject: Carafate info needed

Hi,

I have a couple of ulcer related questions. First does anyone know if carafate could be mixed in a tiny amt of baby food? Would it still be effective? It stresses my boy to make him take the carafate, but he will readily eat anything when mixed with chicken baby food.

Also, any ideas how long before I should reasonably see some improvement? He is eating fine, but is having "coffee grind" stools also with some 'frank" blood .

This boy has a lot of problems, had cutaneous lymphoma several years ago, been on Lupron shots for almost 3years, gets a high dose of pred due to insulinoma. He can not withstand any major surgery for biopsies, as he does not heal well. (He has had several minor surgeries with lumps taken off, and taken months to heal).

Any other ideas on what to do to help heal his possible ulcer? I realize this could be something else like intestinal lymphoma, but he already is on pred and there's nothing else we could do if it was. That's why we are going with the ulcer theory now.

Thanks for any info anyone can share.

Julie
