My little Jinx, aprox 2 1/2 yrs old, had part of her pancreas removed due to insulinoma, and for a time was off her pred. About a month later she started declining and the vet put her back on the pred. The surgery was done about a year ago. She still isn't active, and I am very worried about her. She is taking .5 of the pred twice daily, and is fed A/D anytime she wants it, but I'm wondering if there is something else that can give her a little extra help. I've only seen her war dance twice in the year and a half I've had her, and I desperately want her to get better.
Also, I have a rescued ferret that came to me barely walking (the animal shelter that had her said the previous owners said he was attacked by a dog). He had no obvious fractures and when he wsn't getting any better, even my vet was stumped. Well, even tho I'm not a vet I decided that I would try pred on him. Started him on that and the next day he was running down the hall! I have him on .2 twice a day, should I wean it down and see if he can forgo the med altogether? If so, how much should I wean it down...?
He is doing great, and I am concerned about taking him off it, because he was so ill before I put him on it (about a month or so ago).
Thank you,
Jacci
