Other things we do are provide boxes that have only one small opening
and have soft bedding inside, a Podo and Kodo favorite :) There are
also some commercial products like this. We have a hanging sleep sack
in the cage that looks like a castle with a round opening. There is a
layer of fabric they can crawl under and a fleece lined area below that.
I don't know where to get one, sadly. It came with Podo and Kodo when
we took them in. I've also seen wooden boxes at PetSmart and other
stores that bedding can go into and with just a smallish opening.

These sorts of things help. Even if you free roam they have some dark
places to go. If you do free roam and don't like black curtains you
can use blackout shades behind regular curtains or verticals that really
block light well on the windows in rooms where you ferrets are likely to
be.

Now, if someone can tell me how to get Ayeka and Avon to choose dark
places instead of sleeping out in the open please tell me.

All the best,
Caity
