I know there are several recipes out there.

Personally I like the 2nd stage meat baby foods, like Gerbers
Chicken and gravy, lamb or veal.
I warm a full spoon or two worth in the microwave about 8 seconds,
add a little ferretvite, or heavy cream (depends on the ferret and
how much they love/hate the baby food) and feed off my fingers.
I do this 3 times a day minmum for sick/post op ferret and also
depends on if ferret is eating at all and depending on this for
nutrition.
Once the ferret is accepting of this, I then move on to Bob Church's
chicken gravy recipe- much cheaper than buying all that baby food
and just as good if not better for the ferret ( actually more nutrionally
complete if you follow the recipe exactly)

All my ferrets get some of the chicken gravy every few days so they
are used to it before they are sick and it is easier to get them to take
it.
But even those who won't take it when feeling well, I have had success
getting them to take some of it while sick.

If the ferret has never had it before, it does take
a few tries of putting it on their mouth and getting them to lick it,
once the tongue starts licking I keep putting more in front of the tongue
so they get more by "accident" and encouraging the ferret even if he/she
turns her head away- until the ferret is refusing it or has finished it.
Eventually you can just offer it off the plate, and I also try to get
them
on the kibble again as soon as their appetite picks up ( if ulcers or
stomach
problems I keep on the baby food/bland diet for longer time)

Good luck to you and your ferret, and wishing him a speedy recovery.
