....... Since then he has gone downhill and is near death. I am feeding him
what I can get in him with a syringe (chicken baby food mixed with strained
wet kibble) and some water. He tries to refuse but he's taking a little
more now. Before the shot he was at least eating well and had control of
his functions. He's developed a wheeze and can't stand up to potty. Would
the Lupron have had any direct effect on his bodily control or was he just
going out anyway?

Carol-
the problem with syringe feeding a ferret-- if you are not skilled or if
the ferret fights it there is a high probability of aspiration of the food
into the lungs. Within 72 hours of aspiration into the lungs the ferret
usually develops a pneumonia. This would cause the rattle you are hearing.
I would have the vet listen to the ferret-- (maybe an xray) and if this is
the case-- consider letting the ferret go.

Aspiration pneumonia which evolves from food in the lungs spreads rapidly
and there is little or nothing to counter it.
