I ferret sit for several ferret owners and one has asked me a question
which I want to get the advice of others on the ferret digest before I
respond.

They have a ferret which they are trying to add some weight onto. The
ferret is otherwise healthy and has been to the vet for a full work up.

I suggested the whipping cream and they have tried ice cream which the
ferret liked. She is now asking me the following question:

Hi Diane,

The people who were trying to get their ferret to eat got some ice cream
and

the ferret really liked it! :) They are wondering whether there would
be any lactose issues and how much to give. Do you have any ideas??

My first response is to stick to the whipping cream for the fat content
which is the main objective unless the ferret won't eat it. Otherwise I
would suggest the Lactose Free Ice Cream (but loaded with sugar).

Any other suggestions from other ferret digest members?

Thank you-

Diane Wall
