Sukie, hadn't really thought about it before but now that you've mentioned
it, they do become more dry after altering. There are two things that change
with altering: the shedding cycle and the condition of the coat. The coat
looses the sheen and has a tendency for a more greyish, dull tone. It's the
natural oils of the skin that give the coat both glossy hairs and a warmer,
more vivid colouration. So a dry coat would loose in both colour and sheen,
just like altered ferrets do.
