I'm adding a followup to my own message in case anybody is ever searching the archives for something similar--I took Seti to the vet on Saturday and learned that this gel-like discharge is a non-specific indicator of irritation in the intestine. The most likely cause is that the stress (probably physical rather than mental) of the rabies vaccination triggered an overabundance of heliobacter mustelidae which is causing the irritation. So he's on amoxi-drops, flagyl and famotidine (don't think I spelled that right) for the next ten days, and we'll see if that helps. If it doesn't, then we'll go back in for additional bloodwork and perhaps an ultrasound to view his intestinal walls.

Apart from not liking the flagyl, Seti's spirits have remained excellent throughout all this. He was the oddball ferret who seemed to like flagyl before, when Pan was getting it and he wasn't being given any (ah, the power of jealousy), but now that it's all for him he most certainly doesn't like it ;)
