My 21 month old MF male sable, Sugar, is very itchy all the time. He alway=
s has been more itchy than his brothers. When he was at the Vet for his an=
nual check-up last month the vet said he was too young to be adrenal and fo=
und nothing odd (my Vet is very much a ferret expert, and in fact teaches t=
he Ferret class at a nearby Vet School). It's not fleas because I've treat=
ed the dogs and cats with Frontline, and also I'm usually the first to be b=
iten when we have a flea problem. I can hear Sugar in the Ferret room at n=
ight (upstairs above the living room) scratching hard, with his little leg =
going thumpa-thumpa-thumpa against the floor. He has no hair loss.

I just noticed this morning that his penis looks slightly inflamed. The pe=
nis itself is red, but not the area around it, and there's no discharge. I=
don't know if there's any connection, but thought I ought to mention it. =
I should add that Sugar is overweight by about 3/4 of a pound, being a bit =
too much of a chicken gravy lover, but I'm slowly cutting his rations to tr=
y to bring down his weight. His stomach does not drag when he walks, so th=
at's not the source of the irritation on his penis.

Any ideas on what to do for the itching and/or the penis irritation? Do I =
need to take him back to the Vet? I never hesitate to take one of them if =
I think they need to go. I'm just not sure what to do, or even if I should=
be worried. Any help or ideas much appreciated.
