Subject: Sniffles Anemia update

Just thought I'd give everyone any update...
Last Wed Sniffs got a bone marrow transplant, thanks
to his brother Bogota. This is a suprisingly easy,
inexpensive procedure in ferrets. He felt kind of
rotten for a couple days afterwards, but seems a bit
better, and is looking like his red cell count is not
going down. Keep your paws crossed!
We also gave him a double dose of Lupron in case it's
adrenal driven, and started him on Dexamethasone.
BTW, despite the fact ferrets are supposed to all have
the same blood type he had transfusion reactions both
times he got transfused...
We're hoping he builds up enough blood to do an
estradiol level.
