A ferret can have an adrenal which looks normal but is not normal so the problem could be from either possible source.

I've never heard of related anemia being gender-dependent.

In this situation I would seriously consider having the Tennessee Panel done.

There is an EXCELLENT article by Dr. Bruce Williams on adrenal growths in the newest (Dec.) issue of "Ferrets" magazine (the issue with the ferret on the sled).

I am not a vet, but someone with 21 years with ferrets.
