HI,
Your little guy is teeth grinding because he is in pain. Itf it has been a
while since he ate then surgery may be indicatied. I have seen these guys
with a furball in their stomach and it gets pretty bad, they also will loose
weight and sometimes have a gastric ulcer from it. You could do Ultrasound
before surgery if you want a better idea. I have also given them a bit of
barium, which is an x ray contrast and it can tell if there is something
that the regular x ray can't see. The barium also coats the entire stomach
and intestinal tract ans sometimes makes them feel better by default. Your
ferrets blood sugar will drop if he is not eating and be life threatening.
If it is an obstruction you need to know because his chance are better
surgically if he is in better shape. I so think that is he is pt on IV
fluids with Dextrose in them he will alos perk up because his sugar is low
from not eating. The cortisone should also help bring his sugar up. Is he
having bowel movements and how do they look. He could also be treated for
Heliobactor with leads to gastric ulcers which lead to pain. Good Luck.
