Many do fine without meds, but many also have concurrent insulinoma and
benefit from medication. I usus start them on it post op, then wean them
off and have the owners watch them and restart if their appetite drops, they
slow down, I try not to wait until they crash. Every ferret is different so
only time will tell. Keep a close eye on them and notice if they are slowing
down etc. And keep in touch with your vet and speak with him about your
concerns. Good luck and hope this helps.
