It is time to have hisblood sugar tested. Even though rapid surgery is corrective for anumber of ferrets with insulinoma (I think Dr.Williams has said about 60% but check meon that http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org.) the process which leads to the formation and is not understood can still be continuing, or there may have been very early insulinoma growths elsewhere in thepancreas which just had not been spotted because they simply were too small to find.

What approach is used now depends on what you and vet decide, whether surgical or medical, depending on factors like control, age, and if he is a good surgical candidate.

We've found that most ferrets live to be in their late 7th year to late 8th year, some older, some younger.

OKay, in
http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org/browse.php?msg=SG1235
Dr.Williams says that WITHIN 10 months about 40% of the ferrets with insulinoma have it reoccur in a different part of the pancreas. There are more post s with more info there in the Complete FHL Archives.

Hope I am making enough sense and hope others jump in.
