Hi,

It really does vary from ferret to ferret how much weight they gain in the
winter and lose in the summer. Our smallest ferret, Romana, is about 550g
in the winter and 400g in the summer, which is a huge change. It happens
every year and we know it's normal for her. Some others, like Ker Avon, our
smallest male, have relatively small changes (1.1kg vs. 1kg). Size doesn't
seem to matter and sex doesn't seem to matter. All I can tell you is they
all do gain weight every fall unless some medical problem prevents it.

All the best,
Caity and the non-stop nine
