Hi,
I've been feeding my ferrets raw food for years, but only the fruits and vegatables are raw. The meats and egg I cook. I'm really not comfortable feeding them raw meats or raw eggs. I worry about the risk of them getting a bacterial infection from the meat & egg being raw. I think they have enough illnesses that they can get and I don't want to risk accidently giving them a bacterial infection from some raw piece of meat or raw egg. I'm just to afraid of accidently making my babies sick from feeding them those two kinds foods raw. But they do still get meat and eggs, I just cook it instead.
And when I give them the cooked meat, cooked egg, raw fruit and or veggies, it's feed to them once a day so I think of it as a snack. I don't feed them this as their main diet, because some of mine like it and some absolutly won't touch it. So I still feed mine a varity of different dry ferret foods and dry kitten food mixed together.
But I do have a question on how much less are they getting in protien,carbs,vit's.,fat,etc. from the cooked meat and egg, versus those two foods raw? Does anyone know?
Thanks Jeanne
