Any chance the skin tumor is a Mast Cell tumor? These types of tumors have
granules that can act like histamine cause itching, but can also cause
anaphalaxis. I would imagine if she has a degranulating episode that is not
severe it could cause her weakness that somehow she can recover from. It
may be a longshot that this is the cause of the weakness but I would not
rule it out. Also how was the stone diagnosis made? If the ferret is
stable enough it may be worth do ultrasound and then surgery. You want to
be sure there is no cardiac disease and you mightn be able to rule out
thoracic lymphoma, but an abdominal exploratory can take care of the stones,
get a better handle on adrenal issues and check more for insulinoma. I know
you can do tests for insulinoma but if she has other issues and the tumor
should be removed. I think it is nec to rule out all other causes of
hindlimb weakness before assuming it is a spinal problem. Hope this helps
and good luck.
