Hi,
I'm looking for help for Smokey, my one year old ferret that I adopted 2 months ago!!!
According to what I have been reading, Smokey seems to have all the symptoms of that mystery disease!!! High spiking fever, high white blood cell count (not responding to antibiotics) he's been on Clavamox, pennicilin, baytril and several other antibiotics but nothing has changed. My vet says he is not sure what is wrong with Smokey?????????
I've spend a fortune in vet bills and just can't continue to do so, Smokey has been sick for over 3 weeks, I've been force feeding him since he doesnt have the strength to eat or drink!!
He's still on antibiotic and I need to find a vet that can identify his sickness, it's not that I dont trust my vet, but after spending $1500 and not seeing any results, I'm willing to give this another shot. How long can Smokey stand his quality of life???? Can't walk, eat or drink, has high fever twice a day, has lost a lot o weight and to think he's been this way for such a long time. I've read about some ferrets that have had this disease....have any of them survived ???? If so, who was the vet???
Hope someone can help us.....PLEASE !!!!!!
THANKS
Monica and Smokey
