Well, one of the intersting things about the sick ferret with sepsis is that they tended to eat, needed help to do so, but enjoyed eating.
How high is the fever?
Could you type in the test results?
For some reason this brings to mind one who turned out to be different, I guess because that ferret was unwilling to eat. That ferret turned out on necropsy to have swallowed a foreign body and had a perforated intestine. I'm not saying that this is what your ferret has, just that it might be among possibilites to discuss.
